Pictorial · Incomplete information
Unknown values remain unknown; percentages describe the known subset.
Use a recognizable shape to communicate capacity or a small number of proportions. Filled height represents the value; filled area and physical volume do not. Use columns when precise cross-category comparison matters more than the silhouette.
Pass stable series and point IDs, category IDs and non-negative y values. null remains unknown; zero remains a known value without invented ink. Up to eight series, 32 categories and 64 original points are supported. A raw capacity belongs in data.axes.y.domain as [0, maximum]. Percent stacking uses the known subset and identifies incomplete totals explicitly.
options.layout selects person, bottle, heart or a normalized triangular mesh, gap from 0 to 64 logical units, background, and optional sum/percent stacking. Category X labels and title, series colors, legend, individual/pinnable tooltip and horizontal plot scrolling are supported. Y-axis controls, numeric grid, zoom/pinch, references, shared tooltip, inline value/stack labels, point colors and arbitrary SVG/XML are rejected. A raw capacity cannot be combined with percent stacking. A mesh has up to 192 vertices and 64 conforming triangles; one background/series path is bounded to one million characters, with the scene aggregate budget also enforced.
