Donut
Show proportions while leaving space at the centre.
Use a donut for a few parts of a total when the centre has a useful role. A hole is a presentation choice, not a different dataset.
Donut slices use the same stable identities and non-negative values as a pie. Projected inner/outer geometry comes from the shared planner.
Control the series palette, title and legend. Floating tooltips identify the selected slice; the readable data table provides exact values.
