Use columns to compare a manageable number of categories. Keep a consistent baseline; use horizontal bars when labels need more room.
Categories and series keep stable identities. Each rectangle and observation use the same projected baseline, including zero and negative values supplied by the planner.
Configure colours, legend, titles and axes. Give dense category charts a minimum width so columns remain readable and the preview scrolls.
