Area · Gaps in the fill

Missing intervals break both outline and fill.

Use areas when the magnitude and trend matter. Overlapping series are not stacked. The value axis includes zero by default; an explicit domain clips the fill.

Provide ordered category, numeric or UTC-time X values and nullable Y values. By default a gap breaks the fill; it is never converted to zero.

Use line markers, shared detail, references, side legends and viewport controls. Set options.layout.stacking to sum or percent for stacked areas. Missing contributions break the entire row; percent rejects negative values.
